The overriding purpose of the Act is to make provision for the conservation of soil resources, the prevention of damage by erosion and make better provision for the protection of property from damage by floods.

About the Act

To achieve the Act’s purpose and objects, catchment boards are able to be established under the Act. They are responsible for the activities in their catchment district. They are given wide-ranging powers to achieve the purpose and objects of the Act.
