NZPI vision statement
"To be the organisation that best represents all professional interests in planning in New Zealand".
Shortage of RMA Practitioners
- There is a shortage of experienced planners but its not unique to NZ
- NZPI® concern is threefold
- the impact on our members;
- the impact on the planning profession; and
- the impact on good planning practice
What is NZPI® doing about recruitment?
- Talking openly about the shortage - to understand the causes of the problem so we can work on solutions
- Working with universities and schools to publicise the profession
- Enhancing profile and reputation of RMA practitioners in the media and public eye (eg: Conference and WTP Day media coverage)
- Working with other professional organisations
What is NZPI® doing about retention issues?
- Again, talking about the problems to better understand the causes and solutions
- Professional development - CPD programmes
- Review of membership categories - a place to belong and get support
- Working with other organisations - RMA is about integrated management of the environment and only way to achieve this is through an integrated approach
