Information and Communication Technology Equipment: Good Practice Guidelines for Environmental Sustainability

October 2007, Ref. ME843

The Ministry for the Environment commissioned the production of good practice guidelines on “Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Equipment: Good Practice Guidelines for Environmental Sustainability”.

The guidelines are aimed at any organisation that buys, uses and therefore has to dispose of large quantities of office ICT equipment, such as; printers, fax machines, desk top computers, laptops, mobile phones, scanners and multi-function devices.

For government agencies, the Ministry for Economic Development will be providing specific sustainable procurement standards and guidelines for ICT equipment. The Sustainable Procurement toolkit for government agencies will complement the purchase guidelines in this document and the content will be reviewed and updated to ensure consistency of advice.
