The Minister for the Environment’s responsibilities under the Fiordland (Te Moana o Atawhenua) Marine Management Act 2005

Under the Fiordland (Te Moana o Atawhenua) Marine Management Act 2005, the Minister for the Environment has the following functions.

  • To appoint the Fiordland Marine Guardians
  • To provide direction to the Fiordland Marine Guardians on management of the area
  • To initiate reviews to determine the effectiveness of the management of the area
